Redwood
The redwood featured in this section originates from Northern California. True old-growth redwood has become increasingly rare, with most available material today coming from salvaged stumps left behind by logging operations in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Occasionally, redwood also becomes available through private land development, as no harvesting is permitted on public lands.
The lace redwood burl currently in the store came from a longtime redwood merchant’s personal collection, where it had been carefully stored since the late 1980s. I’ve been fortunate to know him for over 20 years. Pieces like these only come available rarely.
