Ancient Bog Oak

Ancient oak that was recovered from the river sediment. These are trees that fell thousands of years ago and were covered and preserved in the sediment for thousands of years. Over the years the wood absorbed minerals from the sediment changing the wood from a blonde color to colors ranging from charcoal gray to black. This wood has undergone radiocarbon dating tests to give an age that is accurate within 50 years. A copy of the report is included with each block.
