Stabilized Dyed Maple Burl Block
This is a beautiful piece of Oregon Big Leaf Maple burl with rich dyed color and excellent figure. The burl figure shows attractively on both faces and along the edges. One thing I really like about maple burl is how it takes dye. Instead of turning one solid color, different areas absorb the dye in their own way. The burl eyes often resist the dye and show hints of red or orange, while other areas come through as lighter and darker shades of the same color. The result is a random, natural look with a lot of depth and character—no two pieces turn out the same.
Professionally stabilized by K&G Stabilizing Services, this block has been fully infused under high pressure with their proprietary resin and then heat-cured to create a solid, durable structure. The process greatly enhances strength and stability—helping to prevent cracking, warping, or discoloration that can occur in untreated wood—while making it easier to achieve a flawless, high-gloss finish.
